The ALS Association

The mission of the ALS Association is to lead the fight to cure and treat ALS through global cutting-edge research, and to empower people with Lou Gehrig’s Disease and their loved ones to live fuller lives by providing them with compassionate care and support.

The ALS Association provides assistance for people with ALS through a nationwide network of chapters, coordinating multidisciplinary care through certified clinical care centers, and fostering government partnerships.

California has four chapters (listed from North to South):

The Greater Sacramento Chapter serves from the Sacramento Valley to the California-Oregon border

The Golden West Chapter serves both the Greater San Francisco Bay and Greater Los Angeles areas

The Orange County Chapter serves the Greater Orange County area.

The Greater San Diego Chapter serves the Greater San Diego area.

The Chapters provide a multitude of services to people with ALS, their loved ones, and  the community including:

  • High-quality care through chapter-supported multidisciplinary ALS centers and clinics in your area, care managers, and support group facilitators.
  • Resources and information about ALS and services including equipment loans, physician referrals, reference libraries, resource guidance, van transportation, and more.
  • Leadership in research, public awareness, and ALS advocacy
  • Fundraising to enable research for the cure and improve the quality of living for individuals afflicted with ALS locally.

Please find more information about ALS on the Chapter website nearest you or the national site including: symptoms of ALS, how ALS is diagnosed and what to do if you’ve been diagnosed. ALS’s California Chapters are asking you to help find a cure for this disease by giving $10 or more on your 2011 California tax from, line 414.

Support ALS Research. Donate to your local ALS Association Chapter.
