Golden West Chapter Representatives Visit the Set of the New Film in Production "You're Not You" December 1, 2012- Los Angeles
Several representatives of The ALS Association Golden West Chapter had the opportunity to visit the set and take part in the new film "You’re Not You", a drama starring Oscar Award winning Hilary Swank and Emmy Rossum. The adaptation of the acclaimed Michelle Wildgen book, which is being directed by George C. Wolfe, centers on an aimless and self-absorbed college student (Rossum) whose life is changed when she takes a part-time job caring for a woman (Swank) with Lou Gehrig’s disease. The film is scheduled to be released in 2013, but the exact date has not yet been announced. Fellow cast members include Emmy winner Loretta Devine, Ernie Hudson, Frances Fisher, Marcia Gay Harden, Ali Larter, Jason Ritter, Julian McMahon, Andrea Savage and Josh Duhamel. "We enjoyed the entire experience of meeting the cast and crew," said Kay Thomas, who has been living with ALS since 2002. "Prior to the shoot, we had the opportunity to meet one of the producers, Allison Greenspan. She shared with us that her personal experience of losing her father to ALS is what compelled her to make this movie." "The cast and crew were all very kind, helpful and informative," said Matt Chaney, who has been living with ALS since 2001. “The scene we were in was very short, but we had the opportunity to chat with Hilary Swank and Emmy Rossum in between 'takes'. Both were very friendly and a lot of fun." Kay's husband Phil added "We all got a laugh when the director shared that when he first saw a picture of my wife Kay, he thought she was putting on lipstick. He realized later that the 'lipstick holder' was actually the mini joystick that she uses to operate her wheelchair." "I am looking forward to seeing the finished product next year," said Chaney. “It was a great experience, even if we don't make it past the final edit and end up on the cutting room floor." Kay Thomas added, “I was happy to be part of an opportunity to raise awareness about ALS." |
