The ALS Association
Golden West Chapter is excited to announce the addition of Emmy, Golden Globe, Screen
Actors Guild, and Tony Award favorite actor Jason Alexander to the cast of the 3rd annual ONE STARRY NIGHT: A Special Performance Dedicated to Conquering ALS. This one-night-only musical and entertainment extravaganza will be held on Monday, August 15, 2016 at
the Pasadena Playhouse. Join Honorary Co-Chairs pop superstar Miley Cyrus and Pilates guru Mari Winsor in supporting this one-night-only benefit for the ALS community featuring
performances and appearances by an exciting gathering of Broadway and Hollywood
talent.
Jason Alexander is a man of many
talents and diverse background. He has had an active career on stage, appearing
in several Broadway musicals including JEROME ROBBINS' BROADWAY in 1989, for
which he won the Tony Award as Best Leading Actor in a Musical. He has played
off-Broadway and around the country - most notably starring with Martin Short
in the Los Angeles production of Mel Brooks’ THE PRODUCERS. He is perhaps best
known for his nine year stint as the now iconic “George Costanza" of
television’s SEINFELD for which he garnered six Emmy nominations, four Golden
Globe nominations, an American Television Award and two American Comedy Awards.
Jason also won two Screen Actor Guild Awards as the best actor in a television
comedy and in 2012 he was honored to receive the “Julie Harris Award for
Lifetime Achievement” from the Actor's Fund. His many films include: PRETTY
WOMAN, JACOB’S LADDER, LOVE VALOR COMPASSION, ROCKY AND BULLWINKLE, and SHALLOW
HAL. He is also a noted director, producer, teacher and author, as well as an
award-winning magician, notorious poker player and respected political and
social advocate. Jason has previously lent his support to The ALS Association and
the Golden West Chapter as a celebrity spokesperson, by starring in a series of
public service announcements about National Family Caregivers Month, Veterans
Day, and the California Tax Check off Campaign, which raised over $600,000 for
ALS research.
Grammy
Award-nominee Bruce Kimmel will direct the production, with musical direction
and orchestrations provided by Richard Allen. This star-studded event is produced by
Juliana Hansen, Patty Ramsey, Melissa Verdugo, and Patrick McMinn, and has a growing list
of presenters and performers. The evening will also include a pre-show reception and silent auction,
and post show dessert with a special “meet-and-greet” with the cast.
Proceeds will provide funding for The ALS Association Golden West
Chapter’s mission critical priorities in care services, public policy,
and cutting-edge global research toward treatments and cure for ALS.
