Thank you for helping us reach our fundraising goal! Together we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by ALS.
Our team, the "Motoring Neurons" was initially inspired by Gail Rupertus, who passed away after a long and devastating battle with ALS. We all knew her well and pay tribute to her life of love, strength, persistence, "joie de vivre" and courage. Gail loved life, the outdoors, she was funny and smart, a creative and driven entrepreneur, and she persisted valiantly through the many blows that ALS delivers - her ability to play her beloved piano, to walk, to speak and wrap her arms around those that she cared for. Time ran out for Gail, but still, she inspires us. As a sign read which she had placed on the back of her wheelchair: There is no cure....yet.
WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP Every 90minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
In the last two years research supported by the ALS association has accelerated the pace of discovery and created a significant amount of advancements – in drug development and clinical trials, new collaborations and innovative projects led by top ALS scientists and clinicians around the world. Developments in assistive technologies and the application of data is benefitting the ALS community. ALSA has expanded access to care for people living with ALS, and enabled legislation that is impacting the quality of life of people with ALS and their families in incredible ways.
That’s why we are walking. To change the statistics by bringing help and hope to those living with the disease. To ensure that no one ever hears the words: “You Have ALS” again.
Please join our team " the Motoring Neurons - fired up to defeat ALS" and walk with us on October 23rd, or make a donation by clicking on the button above.
