TEAM HARDY thanks you for visiting our team page. We are riding and walking to honor Hardy Jones and to make a difference in the lives of those affected by ALS. Hardy was, and is, an inspiration to everyone who met him.
Hardy Jones, loving and beloved husband to Jane, devoted and playful father (of Katie and Bryan) and grandfather (of Jones, Jack, Jules and Rowan), creative sculptor, talented surgeon, and friend to all, died with grace and dignity at home on December 28, 2016.
Hardy began his "first career" as an orthopedic surgeon at Kaiser Santa Clara and rose to the positions of Chief of Orthopedics and Regional Chief of Orthopedics of Kaiser Northern California. An innovative and highly respected surgeon, he was admired for his leadership and compassion as a physician.
Hardy joyfully retired from medicine in 1997 to pursue a second career as a sculptor. His “found art” and forged pieces can be seen throughout Los Altos as mascots at every public elementary, middle and high school, as well as in public locations such as the Los Altos Library, restaurants and places of business. Visit hardyjones.com to view his public and private collections.
Hardy always said that sculpture and surgery are two sides of the same coin--one putting things together with precision and symmetry, and the other with whimsy and asymmetry.
After a 2015 diagnosis of ALS, Hardy took every opportunity to celebrate life. His motto was always, “Today is a great day!”, and he brought that attitude to life even in his final days.
We would love to have you join our team and ride or walk with us in Napa Valley to celebrate Hardy Jones.
