A huge crowd joined the fight Saturday against Lou Gehrig’s disease at a fundraising walk in the South Bay.
Hundreds of people of all ages showed up at 11 a.m. for a walk along the Guadalupe River Trail, and then, through the streets of downtown San Jose.
The three‐mile walk raised funds for ALS, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
The fatal disease attacks nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.
One family walked in remembrance of a loved one they lost recently.
"It brought our family really close together and if we can support other families that are going through the same thing then that's what we want to keep doing," participant Steven Mastrocola said.
Money raised through Saturday's event goes to treatment and research of ALS and to support people living with the disease.
