The ALS Association Golden West Chapter is proud to recognize Kate Linder for her outstanding achievements in the fight against ALS at the 3rd annual ONE STARRY NIGHT: A Special Performance Dedicated to Conquering ALS on Monday, August 15, 2016 at the Pasadena Playhouse. The public is invited to join Honorary Co-Chairs pop superstar Miley Cyrus and Pilates guru Mari Winsor for this one-night-only benefit in support of the ALS community featuring a rich gathering of talent from stage and screen. Linder will receive the 2016 One Starry Night Award to honor her longstanding support of the ALS community and participation in the ONE STARRY NIGHT benefit.

"We are proud to recognize Kate's devotion in the fight against ALS," said producer Juliana Hansen, "She is one of the biggest champions for the ALS community, and embodies the spirit of this event and our vision for our show- the entertainment industry coming together to raise support and awareness. We are grateful for her continued dedication to ONE STARRY NIGHT."

Since 1982, Linder has been a beloved member of the cast of the CBS daytime drama, THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS as “Esther Valentine.” For her numerous contributions in television, she earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and is the third actor to earn a star solely on the merits of acting on a daytime drama. She is a tireless worker for many charities and was named celebrity spokesperson for The ALS Association in early 2005, after her brother-in-law was diagnosed with ALS in December, 2004.  Linder has gone to Washington, DC to participate in the National ALS Awareness Day and Public Policy Conference and to lobby for more funds to fight the disease. In 2006, Linder won the Association’s All-Star Award for her passionate service to the cause and it’s Packman Award in 2007.  She travels around the country to participate in and encourage other volunteers at the ALS Association’s fundraisers, Walk to Defeat ALS, and in their fundraising dinners for local chapters. Linder also works tirelessly to raise awareness about ALS through public service announcements, guest appearances and interviews. She even took the Ice Bucket Challenge next to her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2014, 2015, and 2016!

The Golden West Chapter is also excited to announce the addition of Daytime Emmy Award-winner Bill Hayes to the ONE STARRY NIGHT cast.  Hayes originated the role of “Doug Williams” on NBC's daytime drama, DAYS OF OUR LIVES, for 46 years. Hayes was a singer on the Sid Caesar and Imogene Coca variety program, YOUR SHOW OF SHOWS. During the Davy Crockett craze in 1955, Hayes' version of “The Ballad of Davy Crockett” was the most popular, and reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for five weeks, sold over two million copies, and was awarded a gold disc. He also starred on Broadway in Rodgers and Hammerstein's ME AND JULIET and was Dick Van Dyke's replacement in BYE BYE BIRDIE.

Proceeds from One Starry Night will provide funding for the Chapter’s mission critical priorities in care services, public policy, and cutting-edge global research toward treatments and cure for ALS.  The evening will also include a pre-show reception, silent auction, and post-show dessert with a special “meet-and-greet” with the cast. Grammy Award-nominee Bruce Kimmel will direct the production, with musical direction and orchestrations provided by Richard Allen. This star-studded event is produced by Juliana Hansen, Patty Ramsey, Melissa Verdugo, and Patrick McMinn, and has a growing list of presenters and performers which includes (in alphabetical order) Jason Alexander (“Seinfeld”, “Jerome Robbins Broadway”), Carly Bracco  (“Grease Live!”), Juliana Hansen (NBC’sGrease, You're The One That I Want!”), Bill Hayes (“Days of our Lives”), Jean Louisa Kelly (“Into the Woods”), Scott Land (variety performer), Wendy Liebman (Comedian), Hal Linden (“Barney Miller”), Kate Linder (“Young and the Restless”), Reagan Pasternak (Disney Channel's "In A Heartbeat,"), Valarie Pettiford (“Fosse”), Adam Ray (“Ghostbusters,” “Spy”), Richard Sherman (Disney's “Mary Poppins”, “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”, “The Jungle Book”), Sami Staitman (“House of Lies,” Funny or Die’s “Big”), Danny Stiles, (Broadway and Stage Actor), Mari Winsor (Co-Chair/Presenter), Jo Anne Worley(“Wicked” Rowan & Martin’s “Laugh In”), Robert Yako (Broadway, Film and TV actor), John Lloyd Young (“Jersey Boys”), and more to be announced.
