Foodland Super Market, Ltd., Hawaii's largest, locally owned and operated grocery retailer supports the ALS community of Hawaii.

Jenai Wall, Foodland CEO, and Fred FisherOur deepest thanks go out to Jenai S. Wall, Foodland CEO & Chairman, who took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and extended the challenge to the Foodland main office and all Foodland store employees across Hawaii Jenai's leadership in support of the fight to find treatments and a cure for ALS was an inspiration to Foodland’s employees, customers, vendors and partners to spread the word and participate as well! In total, 23 Foodland and Sack N Save stores, main office and various departments across the company participated with nearly 300 employees taking the challenge-all with Foodland’s signature reusable grocery bags..

In addition to taking the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, from Monday, August 25 through Sunday, August 31, customers were encouraged to support ALS by making a $3, $5 or $10 donation at checkout at any Foodland or Sack N Save store statewide. Pictured here is Ms.Wall, presenting a $3,000 check on behalf of Foodland and its customers to Fred Fisher, Golden West Chapter President and CEO, along with one Foodland's famous reusable bags (“Spam Musubi”) that were used for the Ice Bucket Challenge.

All donations were given to The ALS Association Golden West Chapter in support of the ALS community in Hawaii. Donations generated by the Ice Bucket Challenge for The ALS Association Golden West Chapter (www.als-hawaii.org) will support essential care services provided to the ALS community in Hawaii at no charge and will help advance ALS research to discover and develop effective treatments and a cure.
