The
ALS Association Golden West Chapter proudly announces Lowe as the 2017 Corporate
Champion Honoree for the 15th
Annual Los Angeles Walk to Defeat ALS®. The 1-2 mile walk will be held on Sunday,
October 15, at Exposition Park in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles and is open to the
public. All funds raised support the mission priorities of the Golden West
Chapter in care services, public policy, and research.
Lowe will receive the Los Angeles Walk’s Corporate Champion Award for its ongoing philanthropy of time and financial resources in support of the ALS community and the search for effective treatments and a cure. Over the past three years, Lowe has raised significant funds and awareness through their Walk team, Lowe Striders.
Michael Lowe (L) |
Michael Lowe, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Lowe has also been named Honorary Chair of the Los Angeles Walk to Defeat ALS. “The fight against ALS is a personal one for many of us at Lowe. Over the past three years we have dedicated ourselves to bolstering the efforts of the Association in gratitude for the care and support they offer to those battling ALS” said Lowe. “We are very much encouraged by the recent advances in treatment that will improve quality and prolong the lives of ALS patients as the Association continues its mission to find a cure for this horrible disease. On October 15 we look forward to celebrating with all of you the recent successes of The ALS Association Golden West Chapter and to having some fun!”
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a fatal, neurodegenerative disease that attacks nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. ALS does not discriminate -- women and men of all ages and backgrounds are at risk, though for unknown reasons veterans are diagnosed with ALS twice as often as civilians. People with ALS lose their ability to move, speak, swallow, and eventually, to breathe, while all five senses continue to function normally.
