Papa Murphy’s Bay Area & The ALS Association Golden West Chapter "Every Drop Adds Up" Fundraiser

In the summer of 2014, the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge raised over $115 million in ALS community. To keep this movement going, every August until there is a cure for ALS us, The ALS Association will celebrate the many ways that any contribution to support the search for effective treatments and cures for ALS makes a difference. To support this effort, Papa Murphy’s and The ALS Association Golden West Chapter will be teaming up to raise funds in their 2018 “Every Drop Adds Up” Fundraiser.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is a fatal, neurodegenerative illness that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. The average life expectancy of a person with ALS is two to five years from diagnosis. As the disease progresses, people with ALS lose the ability to walk, move, speak, swallow and, eventually, to breathe– all while the mind and senses continue to function. Approximately 10% of those diagnosed have a hereditary or familial form of the disease. Military veterans are diagnosed with ALS nearly twice as often as the general population.  Currently, there is no known cure.

From August 1 – August 31,, 2018, Papa Murphy’s customers at participating Papa Murphy’s Bay Area locations will have the option to make a donation of $1 or more for a Water Drop to write their names on and displayed in-stores, to show their support to ALS. Customers that make a donation of $5 or more will receive a free cookie dough courtesy of Papa Murphy’s.

Donations from this effort will support The ALS Association Golden West Chapter. Their mission is to discover treatments and a cure for ALS, and to serve, advocate for, and empower people affected by ALS to live their lives to the fullest. Their  vision is to create a world without ALS. The Golden West Chapter serves people with ALS and their families in 31 counties throughout California and in the state of Hawaii.
