The Evolution of a Local Artist -
W.T. McElwain, BFA, (Mac to those who know him) will be showing works
from various chapters of his life as an artist at the Food Lounge, 1001
Center St. in downtown Santa Cruz, this August. Mac is a long-time Santa Cruz
resident who has been creating art in various forms throughout the Bay
Area since 1971. This show presents a wide range of his early and later works
and reflects his passions and hobbies as a sailor, dancer, musician,
graphic designer, and set designer/ thespian with San Lorenzo Valley's Mountain
Community Theater. It also captures an artist's observations of the bay
area and Santa Cruz, as well as its evolution, over the course of a lifetime.
It ends with an unusual twist as his style has evolved to accommodate
painting with ALS. The opening will be a First Friday event on August 3rd from
5-9 pm. Patrons will have the opportunity to donate to the Golden West
Chapter of the ALS association.
